Monsignor Hanna Jallouf
Personal resume
- Father Hanna Mousa Jallouf, born in Al-Qunaya in 1952, entered the clerical institute in Aleppo in 1969.
- He spent his first year at the Fonte Colombo sanctuary in Italy and professed his permanent vows at the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels, the cradle of the Franciscan monks in Assisi, Italy.
- He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, and a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Alexandria in Egypt.
- He then earned a Master’s degree in Pastoral Theology from the Salesian University in Rome and specialized in school management at the University of Jordan in Amman.
Pastoral missions
He was ordained a priest by Bishop Neama Al-samaan in Damascus in 1979.
Father Hanna served in various places, including Alexandria, Rome, and Damascus, as a vice parish priest, then as the director of the Terra Santa College in Amman, Jordan, where he served as secretary general of Christian educational institutions in Jordan.
In Aleppo, he was the director of the clerical institute in Terre Sainte for six years, and later became the priest of the Saint Joseph Parish in Al-Qunaya.
On December 17, 2022, Pope Francis honoured him, describing him as an example of a priest dedicated to the well-being of his parishioners.

On July 1, 2023, Pope Francis appointed Father Hanna Jallouf as an Apostolic Vicar in Syria.
On September 17, 2023, the episcopal ordination of Father Hanna took place at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Aleppo.
